This week we are studying Asia. The population of Asia is: 4,164,252,000 (2010). There are about 2,197 languages in Asia. Asia’s climate is sometimes cold and sometimes hot. It has an up/down environment. Asians eat lots of: rice, vegetables, but they eat less meat and dairy products then we Americans do. Instead they eat tofu, kimchee, and ramen.  The president of Asia is Tony Tan. Here are some fun facts about Asia:

1. Asia is the largest continent by landmass and human population. The area of Asia is larger than the land area of the moon. (44.6K sq. km – 37k sq. km respectively.)

2. Asia has a population of over 4 billion people or better than 60% of the world’s population. This many people standing side by side holding hands would reach around the world at the equator more than 100 times.

3. More than half of Asia’s population is in two countries in Asia – China (1.3 billion) and India (1.1 billion). India is estimated to take over China in about 20 years or so.
